Carolina Veterinary Surgical Service

A mobile surgical service that brings the specialist to the patient in the local veterinary setting.

Our Mission

To make specialty surgical care more accessible to pet owners throughout North Carolina in a manner that emphasizes quality of care, compassion, and affordability.

The face of veterinary medicine has changed considerably in recent decades and will continue to do so as our knowledge base grows and innovations in diagnosis, treatment, and prevention are made.  Fueling this change are the heightened expectations of pet owners, derived in part from the increasingly important role that pets play in our society as more integrated members of the family.

As part of the changing climate in the veterinary profession, there has been a proliferation of specialty organizations seeking to raise the standard of care and to provide general practitioners with a resource for the management of patients with complex disease.  These specialties include internal medicine, ophthalmology, diagnostic imaging, and surgery, among others.

Carolina Veterinary Surgical Service (CVSS) was founded in 1996 by Dr. Erik Clary as a means of expanding access to specialized veterinary surgical care to pet owners throughout central North Carolina.  Services include orthopedic  (including fractures), general , and neurosurgical procedures for small animals.  The benefits of the service to patients, pet owners, and veterinarians  include:
